Welcome Message from Prof. Warwick Ngan Kee

With great pleasure I invite you to join us in vibrant Hong Kong for CSM2011. The Combined Scientific Meeting of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists and the Hong Kong College of Anaesthesiologists will be a once-in-a-decade scientific collaboration between the two colleges. The meeting will be held from 14-17 May 2011 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre situated right on the famous and beautiful Victoria Harbour. A satellite meeting is also planned to be held in Shanghai.

Both colleges have a strong tradition of holding annual scientific meetings of the highest standard and the opportunity to benefit from the scientific and clinical knowledge of experts from both regions is not to be missed. The four-day meeting will follow the usual format of ANZCA ASMs with plenary lectures, concurrent sessions, breakfast and lunch sessions, workshops, problem-based learning discussions and more. We invite free paper submissions to be presented as posters, or orally in the usual trainee, Pain and Gilbert Brown prize sessions. An exciting social programme promises something for everyone and the chance to explore the fascinating fusion of East and West.

The theme of our meeting is “Seeking the Dragon Pearl”. In ancient Chinese tradition, the pearl of the dragon is a symbol of that most valuable and sacred treasure: wisdom. In keeping with our theme, we plan cutting edge and refresher lectures in a wide range of topics in Anaesthesia, Pain Medicine and Intensive Care. We have an exciting list of Invited Speakers from all around the world as well as local experts from Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand.

If you have been waiting for something different: this is it! Oh, and the shopping and restaurants are fantastic. See you in 2011.
